Dangulon Iphat had only one week left of training. The basic exercises were administered: rifle accuracy, strength and speed in swimming, basic survival skills training such as sand pit climbing, stamina sculpting, sleep deprivation, and starvation. On the final day, he was shipped off to a mountainous region as Sergeant in charge of four other trainees, three humans and one other Sullustan. This team was dubbed the 42nd Battalion Audio Recon. Their mission was to kill as many of a certain species as possible and find their way to a ship at a given location. The trick was getting there. Nearly a hundred miles of mountains spaced them from their ship.
After several attacks by the creatures to be assassinated and losing two human lives, the Sullustans and one human retrieved their ship and returned to the base. Upon arrival on the base, Dangulon was assigned to rid the Ancine sector of a group of pirates known as the "Pirates of Vey". These pirates, under the leadership of crimelord Gaarious Vey, had overthrown the planet of Jonne and taken it as their own. So Dangulon boarded his ship, "Score's Sparrow", and headed for Jonne.
When he got to Jonne, he was greeted up close with the presence of a Nebulon B orbiting the planet. A welcoming from the ship assured Dangulon he was with the New Republic on the same mission as he. However, the tractor beam locked onto the Sparrow and all Dangulon could do was run a sensor check for life on the planet. Not much life was found and fires could clearly be seen from orbit.
Dangulon put up a fight when pirates entered his docked ship, but was knocked unconscious and woke up in a jail cell. The pirates didn't search him for weapons very well before they imprisoned him. The only thing they took from him was his visible blaster. Being a demolitionist, he always had a fragmentation grenade in his jacket pocket and a smaller gun in his boot. So, he turned the bed on its side and hid behind it as the bomb blew a huge hole in one of the walls.
Alarms sounded as Dangulon ran down the hallway and into another room. And in that room were two women getting dressed. They screamed but Dangulon threatened them that if they didn't shut up he'd have to shoot them. One tried attacking Dangulon but he shot her. The other, a very well built and strong woman, managed to kick him into the wall, incapacitating him.
When he woke up, he was in a jail cell again. This time someone was with him. A very very very large bald man stood above him. He yelled at Dangulon for trying beat his girlfriend, Cloey, and taunted him for his being weaker than a woman. Dangulon sat there and took insult but eventually he cracked. He jumped up and punched the huge man in the nose. His nose broke but it only infuriated him. He reached for Dangulon but was too slow to dodge the kick to his groin. He fell to the floor in pain and Dangulon punched him in the back of the head, knocking him senseless. Dangulon then stole the man's ID and gun. From here on, he couldn't be seen. Everyone knew who he was and would surely open fire on him on sight. His mission was backfiring. His only hope was to get back to his ship and escape.
So he snuck around the ship, opening doors with an ID card saying "Joey Gee", and eventually got back to his ship. His plans of planting several explosives in the engines and cockpit had gone to waste. Dangulon had to get back to the base and get reinforcements. He exited the ship under heavy fire and jumped to hyperspace.
When he got back, he was informed that the base was packing everything up and leaving. The 42nd B.A.R. no longer had sufficient funds. Dangulon was given a 2-1B Medical Droid, two I-3PO Protocol Droids, an R2-D8 Astromech Droid, several pieces of weaponry and equipment, and 40,000 credits severance pay. He was also informed that the Death Star had been destroyed. With that, he grabbed a Sullustan comrade and his free landspeeder, loaded the Sparrow, and headed for Yavin IV, where there would most likely be a huge celebration.
Sure enough, everyone on Yavin IV was celebrating. Dangulon and his friend decided to join in on the celebration by finding themselves female friends. And that they did. The four partied all night, Dangulon insulted once in a while by his Human date, Jane's, slightly cocky attitude.
Dangulon eventually wound up in Jane's home and stayed there that night. He had nowhere else but his ship to stay (and he was sick of sleeping in his ship anyway). In the morning, Dangulon awoke to find himself alone. A note from Jane said she was out getting breakfast. He got dressed, grabbed some scraps to eat, and got a bright idea. Being the creative (and messed up in the head) demolitionist he was, he decided to get back at Jane's cockiness by rigging Jane's refrigerator to explode when she opened it. Sure she had a great body but Dangulon couldn't really stand her. So, he completed his task in a mere ten minutes, grabbed his belongings (and some of hers) and left.
Dangulon went back to his ship and pondered what he should do next. He didn't really need two I-3PO droids but, hey, they were free. He emptied all the important memory form one to the other and took the empty one to be sold. He went to a droid dealer and sold his useless free droid for a huge profit and a great bargain for the droid dealer. This gave him another bright idea. He asked someone on the street if there was another droid dealer, and sure enough, across town there was another. Just then, he heard an explosion from a building nearby. That was his handiwork in Jane's apartment. He should move quickly before the authorities investigate the scene.
Dangulon went across town to the other droid dealer and checked out the business. They had some nice stuff in there so he hid in the alley until closing time. The manager exited through the back door and once he was gone, Dangulon picked the lock, entered the store, stole some expensive droid parts and some flammable liquid from the closet. He also got into the cash register and stole as much as his pockets could hold and took off.
The next day Dangulon went back to the place where he sold his I-3PO droid and sold all of the droid parts he had stolen from the other droid dealer, again for a hefty profit for him and a bargain for the droid dealer. After all this, Dangulon thought he was the smartest Sullustan in the galaxy. He wanted to celebrate with a drink so he went to the nearest bar. There he met two men each with one wookiee slave for sale. He thought maybe he could make a profit with this too. So he bought the cheaper, the female, wookiee for a mere 5000 credits. By now, he had partied, practiced his explosive capabilities, bought a wookiee slave, and still made 2000 credits profit since he arrived on Yavin IV just yesterday afternoon!
Dangulon hauled his new slave, whom he named Botswana, back to his ship and received a distress call from a former superior officer. He and his team were in trouble in the Menneth system and they needed his help. They would pay him whatever he wanted if he just come help out. So Dangulon agreed to help. He loaded up and took off for the Menneth system.
On the way there, Botswana caused a little uproar when the hyperdrive quit working. The Sparrow dropped out of hyperspace and was fired upon by TIE fighters. Botswana broke free of her electroshock chains and threw Dangulon to the floor, shouting gibberish as she ran to the back of the ship. Dangulon then yelled to R2-D8 to fix the hyperdrive. He then raised the shields and shot at Botswana, but missed. He decided to flip the Sparrow upside down to possibly incapacitate her. A large crash from the back startled him so he flew the Sparrow upright. The hyperdrive came back on-line and Dangulon punched it into hyperspace.
Slowly and quietly, Dangulon walked to the back, blaster drawn. Once he reached the engine room, he was punched in the face by a hairy arm. He then shot at Botswana, who ran to an escape pod, growling all the way. She couldn't jettison into hyperspace. She'd be torn to shreds. Dangulon asked his I-3PO droid what she was saying and the droid told him that she fixed the hyperdrive. Dangulon saw the worried look on Botswana's face and motioned for her to come out. The two formed a truce and got along just fine for the rest of the trip.
When they arrived on Menneth a week later, they discovered that Dangulon's former superior officer and some others had moved to another base and were sent to Menneth to eradicate a species of giant bugs. By the time Dangulon got there, they were nearly finished and they no longer needed his help. However, they explained that they could use Dangulon at the new base and Dangulon explained that Botswana would be a good engineer.
Dangulon agreed and flew back to their new base after all the species of bugs were eradicated. He went through more mission training and was appointed a First Sergeant for the Rebellion while Botswana, with her newfound freedom thanks to Dangulon, became head starfighter mechanic.
