Visual Aides

Visuals are very important. It's the key to the Star Wars Universe. They can save countless minutes and the players won't get bored. It'll help everyone envision their environment and the characters with which they are interacting if they can see it all.

So, if you're an artist or you've got an artist in your group, sketch something up. Make a "You Are Here" map. Maps are the most common visual that I've used. Color coding these works great too. My group even made a map of the galaxy. If you're not an artist, compare what you're describing to something familiar to your players. And don't skip on the character pictures on the character sheets. Always know what your characters look like and what they have with them. It's foolish not to. You might want to keep a sketch of your characters to which you'd continually add and subtract clothing and items. Or you could list it, but it's more fun to see it, don't you think?
